The resulting artworks are studied in the professional fields of art criticism and the history of art. The Department of Fine Art supports the IVS Gallery which has in the past successfully organized reputable national and international art exhibitions. The department has also hosted artist residencies in collaboration with Vasl Artists’ Collective. As part of the Talking Art Series, eminent artists regularly visit as special guests for seminars, talks, tutorials and workshops. The Department of Fine Art has recently introduced an internship programme during the summer break for students in semester five. The resultant piece of artwork may also offer insight into the troubles experienced by the subject and may suggest suitable approaches to be used in more conventional forms of psychiatric therapy.
